230-400 Analog Barometer

The Model 230-400 Series Analog Barometers use the unique BAROCAP® silicon capacitive absolute pressure sensor. The pressure sensor utilizes the outstanding elasticity characteristics of single-crystal silicon and achieves excellent repeatability, low hysteresis with very good temperature and long-term stability. The pressure sensor can withstand overpressure and mechanical shocks with no effect on performance.

The pressure sensor is fabricated from two pieces of silicon with one piece acting as a pressure sensitive diaphragm and the other as a rigid support plate. The two silicon pieces are isolated by a glass layer, which also seals the integral vacuum reference chamber in the sensor. Pressure variations deflect the sensitive diaphragm and change the sensor's capacitance. The capacitance is measured by an integrated circuit designed for accurate and stable measurement of small capacitances.
