The Model 235-5010-A Meteorograph provides the convenience of simultaneous records of ambient temperature, relative humidity, and barometric pressure on one chart. This instrument features the highest quality components for years of trouble-free use.
An aged bimetal strip responds to variations in temperature. It moves in a repeatable manner due to the differential expansion and contraction of the two metals which make up the assembly. Magnification through the linkage results in pen movement over 3.5" of the chart paper, corresponding to a full-scale change of 60°C (or 110°F) in ambient temperature.
Humidity is measured by a treated bundle of human hair. As the hair expands and contracts with changes in humidity, these movements are transferred to the pen arm through a precision linkage. This linkage features linearized recording, easy calibration adjustment, and polished pivots for the best possible response.
A 14-cell, 2" diameter aneroid bellows assembly responds to the slightest change in atmospheric pressure. Compression or expansion of the bellows is transmitted to the pen arm by means of a lever system. Movement of the bellows due to changes in ambient temperature is compensated by a bimetal strip installed in the linkage. The copper alloy bellows will provide a lifetime of service.
All components of the linkage system are chrome-plated brass or stainless steel. Openings in the base and sides of the instrument allow movement of air to the sensors. The meteorograph is supplied with a 7-day or 31-day clock. The desired rotation period is selected by a switch on the top of the clock. The clock is powered by two AA cell batteries.
